A Personal Approach To Retrofitting
Our goal is to understand the building and its occupants so we can accurately assess what is required to improve the energy performance, comfort levels and overall health of a property.
The EPC Doctor provides a complete retrofit service including initial assessments, whole house plans and project management.

Assessment
-
An EPC assessment is mandatory for every house that is sold or rented that indicates how efficiently energy is used in the building. The document sets out the best ways of improving your properties rating and is a good way of assessing the health of your property.
-
A retrofit assessment is necessary when applying for certain funding streams, such as ECO4, to implement measures that improve the energy performance of a building. The assessment forms part of the PAS 2035 framework as best practice for retrofit works.
-
A health check will assess the condition of the property and support the energy performance findings with Thermographic imagery, relative humidity / damp readings and air tightness testing. This detailed report helps to pinpoint the areas of weakness in a property.

Improvement Option Evaluation / Medium Term Plan / Health Check
02
Retrofitting a home to the highest rating can take years, due to the complexity of the buildings themselves as well as the costs involved. Additionally, work is done in pieces, rather than considering the property as a whole, and as such can be more expensive and take longer. Our 'whole-house' approach to retrofitting takes into account the bigger picture.

Using the information from an EPC assessment, we work with you to design a medium term improvement plan, tailored to your budget, timeline and priorities. Some measures can be taken quickly and inexpensively, whereas others you may need to sequence.

Included in the plan are recommended actions, likely costs and expected results from the measures, all prioritised so you can feel confident about what to choose.

Project Management
03
One big pain point of building projects is ensuring costs don't spiral, delays don't drag on and the work is done to a high quality. Some homeowners manage their own projects, whilst others feel more confident bringing in professional help.

We can help ensure projects run on time, within budget and work is done excellently. Starting out by understanding your project goals, we run the retrofit through to completion. We can assemble the highest rated, most reliable trades people to undertake the work, effectively manage the stages, and keep you in communication along the way.
We use Trustmark rated professionals and pride ourselves on our ability to recognise good workmanship.

We are also PAS 2035 accredited coordinators (if you know what that means)

We can help if...
There are several reason why you may want to improve your EPC rating or the energy efficiency of your home.

Selling / Renting your home
An energy efficient home is more appealing to prospective buyers and tenants.

Saving money
Reduce the cost of your energy bills using energy efficient design and thermal efficiency improvements.

Accessing better finance
Green finance is available for homes with better EPC ratings.

Low Carbon Heating Systems
Companies require an EPC certificate prior to installation and the technology is more effective in a home with a better thermally performance.

Reducing your carbon footprint
Reducing your energy requirements helps to minimize your impact on the environment and reach global emission targets.

Future-proofing
Future-proof your home against rising energy costs and Government legislation that will enforce EPC rating improvements.
